This past weekend during a moderate 16 kt gust, the loop at the Tack of =
our Furling Mainsail that fastens the foot to the hook on the rolling =
furler parted with a loud pop. The boat and sail is 4 yrs old.
Has anyone experienced this failure?
When I went to lower the mainsail (for the first time since owning the =
boat) to remove it and take it to a sail loft for repair I found that it =
would not lower. With the sail unfurled, slack in the outhaul and =
furler, and the main halyard clutch released I could not get the main to =
budge. Thoughts are either a jam of the halyard in the mast or at the =
top of the mast, or a jam of the sail in the furler track.
Has anyone experienced this, or have recommendations?
Thanks,=20
